The British Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies annual postgraduate and early-career scholars’ conference provides a forum for researchers working on all aspects of the history, literature and culture of the long eighteenth century. In 2014 our conference will be held at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, Italy. Information on the programme and accommodation will be made available at http://www.bsecs.org.uk/.
Whilst proposals on all and any eighteenth-century topics are welcome, the conference theme this year is ‘Encounters’. We therefore particularly welcome proposals for papers that address any aspect of this theme throughout the long eighteenth century and in any part of the world.
We invite proposals for individual papers, for full panels of three papers, and for roundtable sessions. We would also encourage proposals for workshops and presentations in other innovative formats.Topics of interest may include (but are not limited to):
Paper proposals of around 300 words should be submitted by 30 April 2014. Panel proposal submissions should include the full name, affiliation, and email addresses of all participants. Please contact us in advance if you have any queries.
