Using What We Have: Architectural Histories of Fragments, Ruins, Rationed Resources and Obsolete Spaces
Our symposium seeks to raise awareness of traditions of vernacular adaptation and reuse, including cultural responses to ruins, layering of settlements, repurposed architectural fragments, temporary habitations and obsolete building typologies. Architectural history research that explores these traditions can inform sustainable design and use strategies for the built environment today.
We invite ECRs working on any period/place to submit proposals to share work in progress and research findings connected to our theme in a supportive and inclusive environment. Abstracts should be 300-500 words.
Deadline: 18th February 2022
