Collecting Texts & Manuscripts, 1660-1860 Back

Collecting Texts & MSS, 1660-1860 is a scholarly conference covering all aspects of book collecting, manuscript and archive conservation, libraries and private collections, and associated areas of interest from the Restoration to the high Victorian period. It is hosted by Plymouth University and the Cottonian Collection, a nationally designated collection representing a mid-eighteenth-century gentleman’s private library and art collection, subsequently gifted to the City of Plymouth. We are very pleased to announce as our guest speaker Keith Manley, an editor of the Cambridge History of Libraries. We also hope to tie the conference in with a public exhibition of the Cottonian Collection, incorporating music from the period.

We are especially hoping to incorporate papers or possibly even a panel on C21st archiving and conservation, including digitisation, and would welcome work on this subject.

We have yet to finalise details of registration, but more information can be found in the links below. Please do contact Bonnie Latimer (bonnie.latimer@plymouth.ac.uk) or Annika Bautz (annika.bautz@plymouth.ac.uk) with any queries.
