The British Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies is seeking nominations for its Executive Committee. We are seeking:
- Ordinary Member (any career stage, any discipline)
- Postgraduate/Early Career Member (enrolled on a higher degree or within three years of PhD completion; any discipline)
Elected individuals hold office on the Committee for two years, with the possibility of renewal for two further two-year periods. Those elected to the vacant posts will take up their positions at the end of January 2018.
All members of the Executive Committee are expected to take on responsibility for a particular area of the Society’s activities. These roles may vary over time.
It should be noted that Executive Committee members are required to attend the meetings of the committee and sub-committees, and that in the event of non-attendance at two successive meetings, members risk being removed. Executive Committee and sub-committee meetings usually take place on a Saturday, generally in London, but also in Oxford or at other locations around the country. The Society will pay travelling expenses for Executive Committee members within the UK.
Members seeking to stand for these posts can be self-nominated but should be seconded by a current member of the Society. Nominees must supply a short election statement setting out their qualifications for the post. Nominations, secondings and statements should be sent to the Executive Secretary by email, to be received by 11.59pm on 15 October 2017, at the following address: email@example.com. Queries about the post can be addressed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
