BSECS President’s Prize 2018 Back

The British Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies President’s Prize is awarded for the best paper delivered by a postgraduate student at the BSECS Annual Conference. The Prize has been awarded to Meghan Kobza for 2018.

Meghan Kobza is a PhD candidate at the University of Newcastle. Her winning paper, ‘Truth in the Numbers: the Elite Reality of Eighteenth-Century Masquerades’, was commended by the judging panel as ‘an extremely lucidly argued piece, which shows evidence of both significant original research and rigorous engagement with scholars who have worked on this area before; and which uses this research to provide substantial new insights into our understanding of masquerade culture.’
