Abstract are now being accepted for a conference exploring all aspects of the history of war in the eighteenth and early nineteenth century, to be held at the University of Leeds on 2-3 July 2015
The conference aims to foster an interdisciplinary approach to the multiple aspects of the interaction between war and societies across the globe. The conference intends to include papers on all aspects of the relationships between warfare, the armed forces (both the army and the navy), society, and culture without geographic restriction in the long eighteenth century.
Themes include:
- memories and memorials of war
- politics and diplomacy
- the interaction between the armed forces and society
- encounters with others through military service
- violence
- transnational connections and experiences
- life in the armed forces
- war and armed forces in art and literature
- the material culture of war and armed forces
- martial identities
Submitting your abstract
Abstracts should be about 200 words long, and should be submitted online at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=wscc2015 (You will need to create an account first).
To be eligible for a reduced conference fee you should submit your abstract by 19 January 2015.
