Nominations are sought for three Ordinary Members of the BSECS Executive Committee. Elected individuals hold office on the Committee for two years, with the possibility of renewal for two further two-year periods. Those elected to the vacant posts will take up their positions at the end of January 2017.
All members of the Executive Committee are expected to take on responsibility for a particular area of the Society’s activities. These roles may vary over time. From 2017, vacant roles will include officer responsible for BSECS’ relationship with Associate Societies, and the Society’s Communications Officer.
It should be noted that Executive Committee members are required to attend the meetings of the Executive Committee, and that in the event of non-attendance at two successive meetings, members risk being removed from the Committee. Executive Committee meetings usually take place on a Saturday, generally in London, but also in Oxford or at other locations around the country. The Society will only pay travelling expenses for Executive Committee members within the UK.
Members seeking to stand for these posts must be nominated and seconded by current members of the Society. Nominees must supply an election statement and a picture of themselves.
