This interdisciplinary conference takes the theme of the accession of the first Hanoverian king, George I – it will examine not just the end of the Stuart era, but the defining characteristics, outcomes and consequences the Hanoverian succession. We invite new and established academics, PhD and early career researchers to bring their knowledge and expertise together for this three-day gathering in the city of Bath. Led by the History postgraduate community, and hosted by Bath Spa University, Göttingen University and Mannheim University, this international conference will be held at Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution, Queen Square, Bath, BA1 2HN, UK. Possible themes include, but are not limited to: • Art & Architecture • Gender • Conflict • Jacobitism • Court History • Personal Union • Culture • Politics • Diplomacy • Monarchy • Economic history, trade and commerce • Religion We welcome proposals (approx. 200/250 words) for individual papers. Panels of three papers with chair and commentator are also welcome.
