Calling all new and early-stage PhD students working on the Long Eighteenth Century (c. 1660 – 1830)….

The British History in the Long Eighteenth Century Seminar at the Institute of Historical Research in London is looking for early-stage PhD students to deliver a three minute ‘lightning talk’ on their research. The event, part of the regular fortnightly seminar series, will be held on Wednesday 11th December 2019.

Travel within Britain will be subsidized for all speakers who do not have access to departmental travel funds. Afterwards, students are invited to attend an informal dinner (£15) with the other speakers and with those attending the seminar. The event always proves lively, is a great way for PhD students to meet fellow postgraduates and the lightning talks themselves are highly valued by regular attendees for giving a brief snapshot of the direction of forthcoming historical research.

Ideally we are looking for first year PhD students, but second year students (especially those who are part-time) will also be considered.
